Earth Day 2021 Bike Rides
We don’t need to remind anyone that last year was a challenging year. Due to the COVID restrictions, many of us missed things like getting together with friends and family, going to parties, traveling, and also enjoying all that our local festivals have to offer.
This year so far hasn’t given us back our freedom to mix and mingle yet, and I think we all need something to look forward to. After all the social distancing we’ve been told to maintain for so long already, we need to feel the connection to our friends, family, neighbours and community. And we need some fun things to do.
This year, like last year, many festivals can’t be held in their normal form, as large gatherings are still not allowed. Luckily for us, the Earth Day organizers have worked very hard to put on an awesome virtual event this year with a long list of things to do. The theme they chose for this year is “EMERGE”. That’s what many have been longing for: to emerge from the dark, cold days of winter, to emerge from our social isolation due to COVID, and, also for many, to emerge from inactivity.
Earth Day this year falls on April 22, but the event has been launched already on March 10, which leaves you plenty of time to challenge yourself to get out there and get active in the weeks leading up to Earth Day.
So without further ado, I’d say check out the list and plan some fun activities for the weeks ahead!
Since you’re on our local HUB Cycling Committee’s site, I wouldn’t be surprised if you’re especially interested in our suggestions for local bike routes. If that’s the case, you can go straight to this page.
Happy Earth Day!
