Maple Ridge 101 Ride
Our first community ride for the summer of 2021 went without a hitch with Mother Nature bestowing an optimal setting for the occasion – not too hot and not rainy; just the right combo of temperature and ambient light.
This sequel to our past favourite, the Maple Ridge 101 Ride, did run into a bit of a hiccup prior to the event which threatened to derail the whole thing. A last minute notification from our comrades at HUB HQ indicated that, per the new requirements from our insurance provider, the ride had to be led by a certified instructor, and that someone with first-aid training had to be on hand accompanying the ride. Well into overtime, a mad scramble resulted in HUB HQ sending in a certified rider to lead the ride, allowing the event to proceed.
Over 20 people participated, and the ride was smooth and pleasant. Gathering at the Witch Craft Pub was the icing on top the otherwise fun filled afternoon.
We would need to figure out a practical way to deal with the insurance headache associated with HUB organized rides going forward, but continue with this fun tradition we will.
